Sejak kecil, Chihaya Ayase lebih sering hidup demi mendukung karier model sang kakak. Segalanya berubah ketika ia bertemu Arata Wataya, seorang anak yang melihat bakat besar dalam diri Chihaya dan memperkenalkannya pada karuta, permainan kartu tradisional Jepang yang menuntut kecepatan dan ketepatan. Terinspirasi oleh Arata, Chihaya mulai memupuk mimpi untuk menjadi pemain karuta terbaik di Jepang. Namun, perpisahan memaksanya melangkah sendiri. Kini saat memasuki masa SMA, Chihaya tetap setia berlatih karuta, menggenggam harapan bahwa suatu hari ia bisa bertemu kembali dengan teman-teman yang pernah mengubah hidupnya.
